Honey Wars

by Annemarie Bogart

honeywars

Minding my own business
What did my wide eyes see?
A big brown grizzly bear
At war with a small bee.

The bear’s big sticky claws,
Defended his honey.
The shifty bee dodged them—
On him was my money.

The beast beat his great paws
Avoiding the bug’s sting,
But this bee had much heart
With a buzz, he would sing.

At last, the bear gave in,
Off to find something new.
I stifled my laughter.
In pursuit, the bee flew!
