Upside Down Border Town

Written and Illustrated by Irish Monahan
There is a little border town
Where things are really upside down
Cars are driven around the sky
Trees are grown leaves down and trunks high
Food is cooked on top of the beds
On the stove, people lay their heads
They scrub their feet, not their faces
Shirts and trousers switch their places
Shoes and socks are worn on their hands
And around the waist go headbands
It's adults who attend the schools
And children who make all the rules
You can go there every night
When asleep with eyes closed tight
And join the people in their game
Where nothing stays quite the same
