The Truth About Chores

Truth about Chores

chore line

I wonder why chores were invented?

They're boring and silly and lame,

But parents keep making kids do them

For reasons they never explain.

Cleaning my room is such a nuisance--

It's fine just the way that it is--

My toys all know where to find me,

But not where the toy box is.

Clean clothes are not very important

When I only play in the dirt.

Nobody can smell Mom's detergent

If I've played all day in my shirt.

Bathrooms are already self-cleaning

With flushes and baths everywhere.

Wet feet and towels mop up the floor.

What else could be needed in there?

The kitchen will always be messy,

Mom cooks too many times a day.

Why bother to wash the dishes

When they don't ever get put away?

Vacuuming has not a true purpose

It's really not very much fun

It doesn't remove mud or grass stains.

But still Mom insists that its done

Chores should be deleted from childhood,

Replaced with more toys and games.

Chores are not really needed at all,

But Mom just won't see it the same!
