A Child's Work

Inside a curtain sunlight plays,

Spending long and busy days,

Dancing in the rainbow's rays,

Laughing through the dusty haze.

Sharing games and ideas, too;

Telling secrets just to you,

Spreading cheer in many hues,

Underneath clear skies so blue.

Calling little fairies home,

Far away they seldom roam,

Building castles out of foam

Instead of bricks, mud, or stone.

Growing gardens in the sun,

Playing in the sand for fun,

Faster, faster small feet run,

A child's work is never done.
